Desolate. Untouched. Divine. Barren. Deserted. Mystical. Ladakh unfolded in all its stark glory. The empty landscape which stretches for miles acts as a canvas for the gods.
The ancient Chorton; the lonely shepherdess; the single prayer flag. Whole mountain ranges in shades of yellow, orange, magenta, purple, and green, overarched by an unearthly blue sky. The monasteries seem a human expression of this spiritual landscape - with ageless Buddhas and gilded murals, venerable prayer halls and weather-beaten lamas.
These photographs bring out the poignancy of this desolate and remote setting, where each face tells a story, and each prayer flag whispers a tale of time and wind.
